Overview
This privacy policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and how it is stored. The app is designed with privacy in mind — we do not sell your data, and we do not use any analytics or advertising frameworks.
Data We Collect
Device Token (Push Notifications)
If you enable price alerts, the app registers your device with Apple Push Notification service (APNs). Your APNs device token is sent to our server so we can deliver push notifications when your alert conditions are met.
- What is stored: Your device token, a StoreKit transaction identifier (used to associate alerts with your subscription), and your alert configuration (metal type, price threshold, currency).
- How long it is stored: As long as you have active price alerts. When you disable all alerts or unsubscribe, the data is removed from our server.
- Who can access it: Only the app's backend service. Device tokens are not shared with any third party.
Subscription Information
The app uses Apple's StoreKit 2 for in-app purchases. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. The app does not collect or store your payment details (credit card, Apple ID, etc.).
The app locally stores your subscription status (premium or free) to enable or restrict features. A StoreKit transaction identifier is used to associate your device with your price alert configuration on our server.
iCloud Sync (Portfolio Data)
If you are a premium subscriber and signed into iCloud, your portfolio holdings are synced across your devices using Apple's CloudKit (private database). This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.
Portfolio data includes: metal type, weight, purity, purchase price, purchase date, sale information, and photos of your holdings.
If you are not signed into iCloud, all portfolio data is stored locally on your device only.
Photos
The app allows you to attach photos to your portfolio holdings (e.g., photos of gold coins or bars). These photos are stored on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private iCloud database. Photos are never uploaded to our servers.
Price History
The app caches historical gold and silver price data on your device to display charts. This data is fetched from our server and stored locally. No personal information is included in these requests.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- No analytics: The app does not integrate any analytics frameworks (no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, etc.).
- No advertising: The app contains no ads and no advertising SDKs.
- No tracking: The app does not track you across apps or websites. We do not use IDFA or any other device identifiers for tracking purposes.
- No personal information: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
- No location data: The app does not access your location.
Network Requests
The app communicates with the following services:
Our Server
The app communicates with our backend server to:
- Fetch current gold and silver prices
- Fetch historical price data for charts
- Fetch announcements
- Register/unregister device tokens for push notifications
- Sync price alert configurations
These requests do not include any personal information beyond what is standard in an HTTP request (such as your IP address).
Apple Services
- StoreKit: For processing in-app purchases (handled entirely by Apple).
- CloudKit: For syncing portfolio data across your devices via your private iCloud account.
- APNs: For delivering push notifications.
All communication with Apple services is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Local Storage
The following data is stored on your device:
- App preferences (currency, display unit, theme, etc.)
- Cached price data and price history
- Portfolio holdings (synced to iCloud if enabled)
- Photos attached to holdings
- Price alert configurations
- Subscription status
If you delete the app, all locally stored data is removed. iCloud data may persist in your iCloud account until you delete it manually or it syncs the deletion from another device.
Data Security
- All network communication uses HTTPS (TLS encryption).
- Portfolio data synced via iCloud is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest.
- Device tokens stored on our server are associated only with an opaque StoreKit transaction identifier — not with your name, email, or Apple ID.
- Our server does not store any data beyond what is described above.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights
Since the app does not collect personal information, there is generally no personal data to request, modify, or delete. However:
- You can delete your portfolio data from within the app (Settings > Manage Vault).
- You can disable push notifications and remove your device token by disabling all price alerts or unsubscribing.
- You can delete the app to remove all local data.
- You can manage your iCloud data through your device's iCloud settings.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, updates will be posted here and included with new versions of the app. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised accordingly.
